Lecture & workshop in co-operation with the Archive of Independent Publishing (AIP).
A subjective tour through the legal, cultural and technical choices involved in publishing projects, with cameos from the monograph Copy This Book, the group blog I like tight pants and mathematics, and the experimental tools for hybrid screen/print publishing developed by Open Source Publishing.
Eric Schrijver is a Dutch interaction designer, artist and author, born in Amsterdam in 1984. He lives and works in Brussels.
Eric got his start as an author editing the blog I like tight pants and mathematics, treating the cultural clashes of the worlds of design and software development. In 2018, he published his first book: “Copy This Book”, an artist’s guide to copyright, with Onomatopee. It’s been translated into Cantonese and French.
From 2011 to 2017 he was a core member of the graphic design collective Open Source Publishing (Brussels), who do graphic design through exclusively free and open source tools.
Eric has taught workshops across Europe and in the U.S. He has been a teacher at the Masters Graphic Design at the École de Recherche Graphique (ERG), and as well as a faculty member at KABK (The Hague), where he taught coding and interaction design.
