Digital Accessibility

We strive to make this website accessible. The declaration of accessibility is required by the Bremen Equal Opportunities for Disabled Persons Act (BremBGG). The technical requirements for accessibility are derived from the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0).

This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website of the University of the Arts Bremen.

This website is only partially accessible. It only partially fulfils the requirements of BITV 2.0.

The verification of compliance with the requirements is based on an assessment carried out by neusta experience GmbH in the period from  February, 15h to March, 1st 2024 by means of a quick review of accessibility in accordance with BITV 2.0.

These areas are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

Areas that are not or not yet barrier-free:

Description: Alternatives for non-text content are insufficient or non-existent. In addition, decorative elements have alternative names. The associated WCAG criterion is 1.1.1 Non-text Contrast.

Measures: Alternatives for non-text content are added or revised. For decorative elements, the alternative is removed.

Description: Regions of the website are not or not correctly labelled. The associated WCAG criterion is 1.3.6 Identify Purpose.

Measures: Appropriate labelling is added.

Description: At certain screen sizes, continuous text with more than 80 characters per line is displayed; the associated WCAG criterion is 1.4.8 Visual Presentation.

Measures: It is ensured that continuous text does not exceed the prescribed maximum values.

Description: There is no mechanism to pause, hide or switch off animations and flashing content. The associated WCAG criteria are 2.2.2 Pause, Stop, Hide and 2.3.3 Animation from Interactions.

Measures: A mechanism for pausing, stopping or hiding motion animations and flashing content is implemented.

Description: If the page navigation is not actively closed, the keyboard focus can continue to navigate in the greyed-out background. The associated WCAG criterion is 2.4.3 Focus Order.

Measures: The page navigation is implemented as a closed area in which the focus remains in the navigation until the navigation is closed by pressing the escape key or the ‘Close’ button.

Description: Slider elements can currently only be operated using path gestures (swiping). The corresponding WCAG criterion is 2.5.1 Pointer Gestures.

Measures: Control elements are added that have the same effect but can be operated with a simple tap.

Description: Some control elements have a click area that is too small. The associated WCAG criterion is 2.5.5 Target Size.

Measures: The click area of the corresponding elements is increased to at least 44 x 44 pixels.

Description: There are control elements that have an English machine-readable name and are used on the German-language page. The corresponding WCAG criterion is 3.1.2 Language of Parts.

Measures: The corresponding machine-readable designations are translated into German.

Description: The abbreviations in the language selection in the navigation bar can be incomprehensible for users of screen reader software. The associated WCAG criterion is 3.1.4 Abbreviations.

Measures: Measures are being examined to ensure the readability of the language selection.

Description: There are various control elements that do not have a machine-readable name or are incorrectly labelled and are therefore incorrectly output by assistive technologies (e.g. screen readers). The associated WCAG criterion is 4.1.2 Name, Role, Value.

Measures: Corresponding machine-readable designations are added and incorrectly labelled elements are corrected.

Description: Certain information is not conveyed in machine-readable form without the keyboard focus having to be shifted. The associated WCAG criterion is 4.1.3 Status messages.

Measures: The corresponding elements are adapted.
