D-bü competition 2024

The call for applications for the D-bü competition 2024 (pronunciation: "debut") has now officially started (https://d-bue.de/).

D-bü is a joint competition of all music University’s in Germany for new, unusual and innovative musical performance formats (length of performances approx. 45 to 60 minutes). The competition will be held in Nürnberg (Germany) from May 27, 2024 to June 01, 2024.

All HfK students, individuals, and ensembles (up to 8 people) are eligible to apply. In the case of an ensemble, the involvement of alumni (up to two years after graduation from the HfK) and/or students from other universities is possible, as long as they do not make up more than 25% of the ensemble in total (please see the call for applications).

The application is carried out in a two-step application process, first you apply directly at the HfK until 15.12.2023 with a concept for a musical event format. Applicants can either submit a written concept (max. 2 pages) or explain it in a video (max. 4 minutes) or present it in an audio file (max. 4 minutes).
At the HfK, a maximum of three individuals/ensembles will then be selected, who in the following step are allowed to apply directly to the D-bü competition by 31.01.2024.

HfK students can also apply for the jury of the D-bü competition in Nürnberg. Applications must be submitted directly to the HfK by 15.12.2023 with a short letter of motivation and CV.
