We are deeply saddened by the unexpected death of our esteemed colleague after a short, serious illness
Prof. Dr. Edoardo Bellotti
September 17th, 1957 – February 27th, 2025
Edoardo Bellotti was an artistic research associate in the organ department at the University of the Arts Bremen from 2010 to 2012, before holding the endowed professorship for historical organ from 20218 to 2023.
Edoardo Bellotti not only tirelessly promoted historical performance practice on old organs but also advocated for his students. This was reflected in the many elaborate trips to the Arp Schnitger organs in the area around Bremen and also in personal conversations, in which his idealistic attitude always set the tone. He was a very modest and benevolent person who enriched our university not only professionally but also, and above all, as a human being. As a luminary in the field of historical thoroughbass practice of the 17th century, he has also made important contributions to research in this field, not least through his critical edition of Spiridion's “Nova Instructio”.
The University of the Arts Bremen is preparing a memorial concert. It will probably take place in May; more information will follow.
We are saddened by the death of our esteemed colleague, we will miss him very much and honor his memory.
Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
On behalf of the HfK,
Prof. Dr. Mirjam Boggasch
Rector of the University of the Arts Bremen
