Jazz bass concerts at the HfK Bremen in April 2024A press release from Jens Fischer
In jazz, bassists have emancipated themselves from the traditional role of background accompaniment. Although they continue to provide rhythmic groundwork and give their colleagues plenty of room to develop, they also show how the bass can be used as an equal solo instrument in both low and high registers. This can be experienced over the next few weeks at the Hochschule für Künste (HfK) Bremen. Bassists can be met, give concerts and provide information about studying bass at the HfK.
Bassist Richie Goods, who has already played for Alicia Keys, Common, Sting, Vincent Hering and many others, will kick things off. On Tuesday, April 9, 2024, 9 pm, he will give a concert at the HfK Jazzclub, Dechanatstraße 13-15, with his trio: Chien Chien Lu (vibraphone), Russell Gelman (guitar) and Jerome Jennings (drums).
On Wednesday, April 10, 2024, a workshop with Richie Goods and his band will take place at the HfK - for students and interested bassists who would like to find out more about studying bass at the HfK Bremen. Registration: kbb@hfk-bremen.de
