Digital theatre – performing arts in a digital world
While theatres often see themselves as a thoroughly analogue art form, the digitalisation of society does not stop at them. Since 2019, the Staatstheater Augsburg has been exploring digital themes and presenting theatre on virtual stages as part of its ‘Digital Theatre’ division. In hybrid VR operas, ballets with industrial robots, interactive plays, symphony concerts with video game music and much more, the theatre interweaves its traditional disciplines with virtuality.
In this talk, theatre director Benjamin Seuffert will provide an insight into the various productions and the associated opportunities and challenges.
Participation in the talk is possible without prior registration via the following link: Digital theatre – performing arts in a digital world on MS Teams
The talk is intended to provide impulses for the current university competition Performing in HfK – Virtual Spaces and invites all interested parties to an open exchange.
