Vergangene Veranstaltung

John Schröder is an extraordinary talent and a true master of various instruments. As a multi-instrumentalist, he masters the guitar, drums, bass and piano. However, his skills do not only extend to playing these instruments, but he has also mastered the art of singing, a la George Benson. He is known for his collaboration with numerous European musicians in contemporary jazz. His versatility enables him to perform with various artists at the highest level and thus explore a broad spectrum of musical styles and influences. John Schröder's musical maturity and talent, which came to the fore at a young age, is particularly remarkable. At the age of 17, he had the honour of making his first recording on guitar with the legendary Chet Baker and the NDR Big Band. This experience shaped his musical career and laid the foundations for his impressive career. It is an honour and a privilege to welcome an artist like John Schröder to Bremen.

His musicality and his extraordinary talent make him a real asset to the jazz scene and give us hope for an unforgettable concert experience. He will be accompanied by HfK bass professor Markus Schieferdecker, Oliver Poppe. New to the line-up and in co-operation with the Hamburg Music School is the outstanding Markus Strathmann on drums. We are delighted about this new co-operation.

The "hfk jazzclub" is the venue for contemporary jazz in Bremen. Concerts and sessions with musicians from the university and local and national musicians take place every Tuesday of the semester at 9 pm in the basement vault of the University of Music. Passionate jamming takes place here, or student tryout programmes are presented. Semester projects by the Rehearsal Band and themed concert programmes are also on offer. In short: a think tank for jazz and a meeting place for Bremen's jazz scene.
