Lange Nacht der Museen: Water Paths. An invitation to sense with water
Opening hours
For one evening, five artists will come together to explore the concept of water (hydrofemism), the urban landscape that surrounds it, body practices and sound. Their works use the ship as body of resonance to explore the agency of rivers, deal with the everlasting motion of bodies of water, uncover censored image parts from Google data and translate liquid into an audiovisual experience.
PROGRAMM
THE HIDDEN DATASET LANDSCAPES – SEEING THE ABSENCE TERRITORY
6:30pm – Gabriella Gonçalles, Workshop
Technologies such as Google Data are changing our view and understanding of the environment. Access to media offers an unprecedented visual abundance, but there is also a danger of uniformity of vision. Navigating this paradox, this project explores the unseen landscapes and hidden stories of Bremen.
Gabriella Gonçalles briefly introduces her research and proposes a drawing-writing exercise in relation to the direct landscape around the boat.
The workshop will be held in English and is recommended for adults and children aged 12 and over.
EVEN WHEN FALLING BALANCE IS A MATTER OF PERSPECTIVE
7:30pm – Victor Artiga Rodriguez, Performance
The MS Dauerwelle lies in the constant rhythm of the ebb and flow of the Weser. Trade and transport of goods along the river are similarly continuous. A common side effect of sea trade is seasickness, as the body is constantly in search of balance in an unstable environment. The performance explores the micro-movements of the ship and invites us to perceive the instability.
SONIC CARTOGRAPHY, AN EXPLORATION WITH WATERBODIES.
8:30pm – Vivian Hernandez Ramirez, Performance
A sound piece created in collaboration between the body, the territory and the river Llobregat. In a performative act, water and glass vessels that produce the sound are interwoven. In this way, the history of rivers as beings full of material and political power unfolds. The performance explores the concept of sentimental cartography.
LIQUID PRISM
9:30pm– Chi Him & Sangbong, Performance
Liquid Prism is a laboratory-like instrument that measures the subtle nuances of the liquid in several test tubes and its movements and changes due to chemical interactions with aspirin and other substances. The reactions, including bubbles, that occur during the melting process are converted into audio-visual data by an integrated laser beam and piezo sensors and can thus be experienced.
