Only university transfer students and advanced students from the 2nd semester (so-called higher semesters) can apply for the summer semester 2024. The registration period for the entrance examination for the summer semester 2024 begins on 1 December 2023 and ends on 31 January 2024.

The entrance examinations for the summer semester 2024 will take place between 29 January and 16 February 2024.

First-year students in their first semester (so-called freshmen) will not be able to start their studies until the winter semester 2024/25. First-semester applicants can apply from 1 to 31 March 2024 via the application portal.

For applications from advanced students from the 2nd semester onwards, there will be a single-stage, purely artistic admission procedure from summer semester 2024. Partial examinations in the compulsory subject Music Theory/Aural Training and in the minor subject Piano will be cancelled.

Applicants for the artistic-pedagogical degree programmes (KPA) with a major in instrumental/vocal pedagogy (IGP), elementary music pedagogy (EMP), jazz or music theory must take an artistic-pedagogical examination in addition to their instrumental/vocal major. The following subjects are excluded from the Bachelor's degree programme in Artistic Training (Bachelor of Music) for the summer semester 2024:
Flute, trumpet, trombone, violin, violoncello, piano and early music singing. Applications for these subjects will only be possible again for the winter semester 2024/25.

In the Master's degree programme in Artistic Education (Master of Music), the following subjects are excluded from applications for the summer semester 2024:
Flute, oboe, bassoon, violin, viola, violoncello, percussion, horn, piano, accordion, singing, chordal instruments ( early music), singing (early music ) and composition.

Applications for these subjects will not be possible again until the winter semester 2024/25.

For the summer semester 2024, applications for all instruments and singing in the following degree programmes are possible in the Artistic-Pedagogical Training (KPA):

• Artistic-Pedagogical Bachelor's degree programmes IGP, EMP, Jazz (Bachelor of Music),
• Artistic-Pedagogical Master's programmes IGP, Music Theory (Master of Music).

Entrance examinations for the Arp Schnitger Master's in Historical Church Music (Master of Music) will not be possible again until the winter semester 2024/25.
