Application period for the summer semester 2025: 1.11.2024-8.12.2024For the summer semester 2025, the University of the Arts Bremen’s Music Faculty will, for the first time, accept applications from prospective new students (1st semester Bachelor’s or Master’s), transfer students, and advanced students starting from the 2nd semester, as well as those interested in the Young Student Programme and the Concert Exam. The application portal is open from 1. November to 8. December 2024 - we look forward to receiving your applications!
The entrance examinations for the summer semester 2025 will take place from 3 to 7 February 2025 in the Faculty of Music at the HfK Bremen. One exception: entrance exams for the concert exam will already be held on 23./24. January 2025.
Artistic-Pedagogical Training (KPA)
Starting a programme in Artistic-Pedagogical Training (KPA) is possible for the summer semester 2025 for all subjects in both the Bachelor's and Master's programmes: Instrumental and Vocal Pedagogy (IGP), Elementary Music Pedagogy (EMP), Early Music and Jazz (exception: Jazz Singing; application is not possible again until the winter semester 2025/26) as well as for the major subject Music Theory (MA KPA Music Theory).
Artistic Training (KA)
In the Artistic Training (KA) applications are possible for the summer semester 2025 for the following instruments:
- Bachelor and Master: clarinet, viola, guitar, baroque bassoon, baroque oboe, transverse flute, baroque violin, baroque viola, baroque violoncello, viola da gamba, natural trumpet, natural horn, baroque trombone, harpsichord, fortepiano, early music organ, historical harp, composition
- Only in the Bachelor's programme: double bass, drums, horn, accordion, jazz flute, saxophone, jazz trumpet, jazz trombone, jazz piano/keyboards, jazz double bass/e-bass, jazz drums/percussion, jazz guitar/e-guitar, vibraphone
Applications for the Arp Schnitger Master for Historical Church Music are also open for the summer semester 2025.
For the following instruments, the entrance examination for the Artistic Training (KA) is only opn for the winter semester 2025/26 (application period: 1. March to 31. March 2025):
- Bachelor's and Master's programmes: flute, oboe, bassoon, violin, cello, trumpet, trombone, piano, singing, recorder, cornett, lute, early music singing
- and again in the Master's programme: double bass, drums, horn, accordion, electroacoustic composition
- and again in the Bachelor and Master KPA: jazz singing

Young Student Programme / Concert Exam
Applications for the young student programme and the concert exam are also possible for the summer semester; here too, the application portal is open from 1. November to 8. December 2024.
Prerequisites
First-year Bachelor's students take an entrance examination with the required major and minor subjects such as music theory, ear training, the minor subject piano and, if applicable, an artistic-educational examination.
There is a reduced, purely artistic admission procedure for applications from advanced students from the 2nd semester onwards.
Applicants for the Artistic-Pedagogical Training Programme (KPA) with a major in Instrumental/Vocal Pedagogy (IGP), Elementary Music Pedagogy (EMP), Jazz, Early Music or Music Theory take an artistic-pedagogical examination in addition to their instrumental/vocal major.
Language requirements
The degree programmes of the Artistic Training (KA) require German language skills at level B1, those of the Artistic-Pedagogical Training (KPA) require level B2.
Application fees
A processing fee of 50 euros is charged for participation in the admission procedure.
