Application period: 1.12.2023–31.1.2024Art and Design
The application portal for higher semesters, university transfer students or course transfer students is open from December 1st, 2023 to January 31st, 2024 for the summer semester 2024. Applications are only possible for study programmes with free capacities.
Admission is based on submitted artistic or design work, a personal interview with the entrance examination committee and the recognition of previous study or examination achievements.
First-year students (freshmen) can only begin their studies in the winter semester 2024/2025. Applicants can apply via the application portal.
Music
Only university transfer students and advanced students from the 2nd semester (higher semesters) can apply for the summer semester 2024. The application period for the entrance examination for the summer semester 2024 begins on1.12.2023 and ends on 31.1.2024
The entrance examinations for the summer semester 2024 will take place between 29.1. and 16.2. 2024.
First-year students in their first semester (freshmen) will not be able to start their studies until the winter semester 2024/25. First-semester applicants can apply from March 1st to 31st, 2024 via the application portal.
Prerequisites
For applications from advanced students from the 2nd semester onwards, there will be a one-stage, purely artistic admission procedure for the summer semester 2024. Partial examinations in the compulsory subject Music Theory/Ear Training and in the minor subject Piano will be cancelled.
Applicants for the artistic-pedagogical degree programmes (KPA) with a major in instrumental/vocal pedagogy (IGP), elementary music pedagogy (EMP), jazz or music theory must take an artistic-pedagogical examination in addition to their instrumental/vocal major. Application fees

Application details – Artistic Training (KA)
The following subjects are excluded from application for the summer semester 2024 in the Bachelor's degreeprogramme Artistic Training (Bachelor of Music): Flute, trumpet, trombone, violin, piano and early music singing.
Applications for these subjects will not be possible again until the winter semester 2024/25.
In the Master's degree programme in Artistic Training (Master of Music), the following subjects are excluded from applications for the summer semester 2024: Flute, oboe, bassoon, violin, viola, percussion, horn, piano, accordion, singing, early music chordal instruments, early music singing and composition.
Applications for these subjects will not be possible again until the winter semester 2024/25.
Application details – Artistic-Pedagogical Training Programme (KPA)
For the summer semester 2024, applications are possible for all instruments and singing in the following study programmes in the Artistic-Pedagogical Training (KPA):
- artistic-pedagogical Bachelor's degree programmes IGP, EMP, Jazz (Bachelor of Music),
- artistic-pedagogical Master's programmes IGP, Music Theory (Master of Music).

Entrance examinations for the Arp Schnitger Master's in Historical Church Music (Master of Music) are possible for university transfer students and advanced students from the 2nd semester for the summer semester 2024.
