In an interdisciplinary cooperation, students from the University of the Arts Bremen (Integrated Design, Prof. Detlef Rahe and Janina Ebner M.A.), Jade University of Applied Sciences Oldenburg (Urban Design, Dr. Almut Wolff), Leibniz University Hannover (Landscape Architecture, Prof. Dr. Christian Werthmann and Prof. Wolfgang Haller), Bremen University of Applied Sciences and Arts (School of Architecture, Prof. Ulrike Mansfeld) and the University of Bremen (Sociology, Prof. Dr. Günther Warsewa) are working together on a project. Christian Werthmann and Prof. Wolfgang Haller), Bremen University of Applied Sciences (School of Architecture, Prof. Ulrike Mansfeld) and the University of Bremen (Sociology, Prof. Dr. Günter Warsewa) are working together on an exciting project: the Alte Neustadt - our immediate neighborhood - is the focus. With its rough charm and numerous challenges such as oversized thoroughfares, industrial vacancies and heat stress, the question arises as to how the district can be further developed without losing its uniqueness.

Thanks to the interdisciplinary collaboration between the different universities, the students benefit enormously from the diversity of perspectives and expertise that come together in this project. This collaboration enables them to develop more comprehensive solutions to the challenges of the Alte Neustadt and open up new perspectives.

The results of the project will be presented at two important events. On July 5th, 2024, there will be a final presentation of the module at which the students will present their work to an external jury of experts from various disciplines. The best projects will then be rewarded with prize money.

From September 20th to 22nd, 2024, the German Academy for Urban and Regional Planning (DASL) will hold its annual conference in Bremen. Hundreds of experts from the fields of urban planning and architecture will come together under the theme "Making neighborhoods - together from knowledge to action". The conference will shed light on key aspects of urban development and the possibilities of integrated, eco-social and transformative planning. Topics such as the mobility transition, social cohesion and climate adaptation will take center stage. Students will also present their project results here and are invited to take part in the workshops and contribute their visions for the 2040 district.

In addition, there will be a project catalog at the end of the module, which will be available in both physical and digital versions. In this catalog, all projects will be listed again in order to provide a comprehensive and appealing summary of the module results.
