The HEADS in the final of this year's D-BÜ competition!

The ensemble The HEADS is one of 8 ensembles in the final of this year's D-BÜ competition.

On May 26, 2022, at 7 p.m. the HEADS will perform at the Alte Krematorium in Tuttlingen with their program "Katabasis".

The D-BÜ competition is a competition that focuses on unconventional concert venues and concert formats.

"The HEADS" formed in 2021 with the members Melissa Wedekind, Anna Lodone and Hans Fröhlich.(from the classes of Prof. R. Sbrzesny, Prof. H. Perl, B. Aghassi, B. Pahn, Prof. H. Tol).

Their artistic work is characterized by the combination of early music with performative elements and a questioning of classical performance formats. They combine the sound of historical instruments and singing with electronic elements and sound installations.

In the program "Katabasis" the ensemble poses the question in which way we find ourselves in our own underworld, which demons we have to face and which ways of liberation can be found. What room is there for depression, fear and exhaustion and do they carry a value that is denied to them?

In "Katabasis", the Old Crematorium in Tuttlingen becomes a place of retreat, not for the dead, but for the people who, faced with the demands of life, remain frozen between death and aliveness.

The competition D-bü (pronunciation: "debut"), is a competition for new, unusual and innovative performance formats. Eight of the entries submitted will be presented in Trossingen from May 23-28, 2022.

Topics such as innovation and originality as well as any form of extraordinary music projects are in the foreground: e.g. spatial concepts, music mediation, IT interfaces, staged performances. Advanced, innovative and interdisciplinary projects from music and KuD are in demand, especially from the cooperation of both departments.

Three entries for the competition as well as one student jury member can be proposed by the HfK until February 15, 2022.
