Turner Prize for visiting professor Jesse Darling
Jesse Darling, a visiting professor at the HfK, has been awarded the prestigious Turner Prize. The prize is endowed with 25,000 pounds and is considered to be the most important British award for modern art. The artist's two-part work “Enclosures, No Medals, No Ribbons” deals with the hostile policy of the British government towards immigration. The jury recognised the use of everyday materials such as concrete, welded barriers, tape, office folders and curtains to create a familiar yet insanely absurd world. Jesse Darling lives in Berlin and is a visiting professor at the HfK in the field of sculpture/plastics in the Department of Fine Arts and Design for the winter semester 2023/24. His recent works include sculptures, installations, texts and drawings.
