- as part of a journey The course situates collaboration, self-organization, fiction and speculation as methodologies that can be used by cultural producers to imagine the horizons of their practice beyond the circumstances determined by power structures. Experimenting with self-publishing, we will explore our own horizons of artistic agency. The course consists of five two-day sessions. In the first session, we will jump right into a discussion on the educational, institutional, national and global (infra)structures that pervade artistic production. Then, we will explore what it means to situate ourselves in space and time by considering varying scales from the intimate and immediate to the global and historical. In the second session, we will tune into each other’s artistic process and reflect on the diverse contexts of our practices. The third session will start with a discussion of methodologies that challenge, disrupt, or evade power structures. In exploring our own methodologies of claiming artistic agency, we will consider self-publishing as a medium and practice, collectively or individually. We will decide together what we want to pursue in the fourth session. At the end of the semester, we will hold a feedback session to reflect on our shared and individual artistic processes, as well as their outcomes. The course will be in English. The course is limited to 14 participants. The enrollment capacity allocated to students from the Fine Arts Department is 8. The enrollment capacity allocated to students from Digital Media and Integrated Design departments is 6.
