Arp Schnitger Master for Historical Church Music (M.M.)

The Arp Schnitger Master for Historical Church Music is a study programme that is unique in Germany. It includes the three main subjects of organ, liturgical organ playing/improvisation and ensemble conducting (instrumental/vocal) as well as specialised minor subjects from the practical and academic areas. The overall goal of the course is to provide a comprehensive church music and artistic qualification that enables students to work independently and cooperatively in the professional fields of church music (organists, cantors, choir directors). Particular attention is paid to the music of earlier eras and the associated performance practice. The great wealth of historical organs in the Bremen area, the wide range of expertise provided by the Faculty for Early Music at the HfK Bremen, as well as the diverse choir and ensemble work offer ideal conditions for comprehensive studies that can also be carried out alongside work.

The lecturers in the field of music are renowned musicians who perform in concert halls around the world. A close and co-operative exchange between students and teachers is of central importance in the field of music.
