Composition / Electroacoustic Composition (M.M., KA)

© Jörg Birkenkötter

The Master in Composition is meant to foster the individual development of the creative personality and the ability to shape one's own musical ideas at a high artistic level, with aesthetic and social responsibility, competently and independently. The programme requires a Bachelor in the field or a comparable degree. It serves the further development of one's own compositional positions in a lively examination of current compositional tendencies and new technical and craftsmanship possibilities.

The composition course focuses on instrumental and vocal ensembles. Practical work with students in the instrumental and vocal classes is an essential aspect of the programme.

The Major Electroacoustic Composition is defined by an intensive engagement with new media technologies and electroacoustic performance practice (sound direction, live electronics).

The lecturers in the field of music are renowned musicians who perform in concert halls around the world. A close and co-operative exchange between students and teachers is of central importance in the field of music.
