Music Theory

The Master Music Theory at the HfK offers a combination of compositional-artistic and scientific aspects. There are specialists in our faculty for both areas, and appropriate priorities can be set optionally. You may also specialise in Music Theory at the programme Early Music as well as in Jazz Theory. The Master KPA Music Theory can be acquired as a supplement to many other music study programmes. The Master Music Theory is integrated into the master’s programme “Artistic-Pedagogical Training”. From the outset, general but also specific music education subjects are combined with a high proportion of teaching practice. The course qualifies you for teaching at music schools, music colleges and universities. After completing your master's degree at the HfK Bremen, you have the opportunity to pursue an artistic-scientific doctorate in collaboration with selected partner universities.
