Ensemble Conducting / Conducting Vocal Ensembles

Ensemble Conducting / Vocal Ensemble Conducting (Choral Conducting) provides the Arp Schnitger master's students with the opportunity to work weekly on a cappella repertoire from the Renaissance and Baroque with the "Early Music Choir" and to gain extensive experience in choir conducting and rehearsal methods. In Ensemble Conducting, larger ensemble works for mixed vocal-instrumental ensembles are developed on a project-by-project basis using the entire range of instruments available from the 16th to 18th centuries, which include strings, recorders, natural trumpets and all basso-continuo instruments from tines and trombones to late Baroque wind instruments, transverse flute, oboe and bassoon. The works then are being performed in representative concerts at locations such as the Bremen Cathedral. The programme includes works such as Heinrich Schütz's “Psalms of David”, Claudio Monteverdi's “Selva Morale” and cantatas by J. S. Bach. Contents of both subjects are prepared and followed up in weekly conducting lessons.
