Timpani/Percussions

The subject of classical percussion/timpani is well represented at the University of the Arts Bremen. In addition to classical orchestral training, great emphasis is placed on chamber music and solo repertoire. Here students have the opportunity to deal with all aspects of drums and the associated literature. The subject is taught as a divided main subject with the sub-areas of bar playing/set-up/ensemble, timpani and orchestral sections/xylophone. In the instrumental teacher training there is also the possibility of taking percussion as a minor subject.

The aim of individualised training is to provide the best possible preparation for the diverse requirements of professional practice, be it with an artistic or educational focus. The instrumental equipment at the HfK Bremen is extensive and offers excellent opportunities; all courses offered there can be taken with percussion as a main subject.
