Vibraphone

The major Jazz Vibraphone at the University of the Arts Bremen is part of the Department of Jazz and Popular Music. Here, students have the opportunity to deal with all aspects of playing technique and improvisation on the vibraphone in jazz stylistics. This involves both solo aspects and the use of the instrument with a jazz ensemble. During the course, jazz standards and original compositions from all styles of jazz are developed. Improvisation and musical interaction are particularly trained when playing together in combos. Class auditions happen on a regular basis. There is also the opportunity to try out jazz sessions in our club. The Jazz Department has two excellent vibraphones from Musser (M55) and Yamaha (YV 3910M). Equipment for amplifying them is also available.
