The guitarist, singer and composer has been combining filigree songwriting with the lustful directness of rock for over 40 years. His 15 albums released to date under his own name prove it.

His range and experience is enormous. He has worked as musical director of the live band on SAT.1 breakfast television and has accompanied stars such as Tommy Emmanuel, Bootsy Collins, Beth Hart and Jamie Oliver. He has sung live with Stevie Wonder, shared the stage with Chick Corea's ‘Electric Band’ and Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson and worked with well-known German artists such as Spliff and Nina Hagen. Ron is also a recurring sideman for Flo Mega, an HFK graduate who studied jazz at the HFK Bremen. This connection gives our event a special flavour, as both artists enrich the musical landscape

Ron Spielman was born in Schweinfurt, Germany, to an American father and a German mother. He received his first guitar at the age of 14 and taught himself to play. Icons such as Jimi Hendrix, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Cream, Free and Traffic inspired him. In his youth, he took part in jam sessions with American GI musicians. This gave him a professional approach to music.

His career has taken him through various genres and his unique sound appeals to a wide audience. Ron came to the HfK Bremen through a long-standing contact with Prof Markus Schieferdecker.

On 30 April, Ron will also be holding an exclusive singer-songwriter workshop for HfK students.

The "hfk jazzclub" is the venue for contemporary jazz in Bremen. Concerts and sessions with musicians from the university and local and national musicians take place every Tuesday of the semester at 9 pm in the basement vault of the University of Music. Passionate jamming takes place here, or student tryout programmes are presented. Semester projects by the Rehearsal Band and themed concert programmes are also on offer. In short: a think tank for jazz and a meeting place for Bremen's jazz scene.

Admission
Normal: 5 Euro
HfK students: 2 euros

Tickets are available at the box office from 8 pm

The HfK is barrier-free to a limited extent at the Dechanatstraße location.

The entire building is fully accessible via two lifts, in the west wing and in the middle wing, from the basement to the 2nd floor. Due to a height offset on the ground floor, the toilet for people with limited mobility can only be reached barrier-free from the entrance via the basement and the 1st floor.

Public disabled parking spaces are designated on the street immediately adjacent to the courtyard entrance. In addition, a disabled parking space can be allocated on the premises by the caretakers and the security service. The colleagues can be reached by telephone at +49 421 9595-1400.
