Percussion (Jazz)

Jazz is all about unique and complex rhythms, in which drums and percussion play an important role. At the HfK Bremen, students learn how to lead a band, improvise and fil a wide range of stylistic requirements as a jazz drummer, from duos to big bands. The HfK values practice-oriented learning and networking with the international jazz scene. In addition, students receive two years of classical training in their main instrument. The programme also offers numerous opportunities to gain experience in the jazz business, for example through concert performances, jam sessions or studio productions. State-of-the-art equipment such as recording technology and rehearsal rooms as well as combos and a big band offer ideal conditions for a versatile training with opportunities for specialisation in particular stylistic areas.
